Get started with mosium

1. Add items

Use Add in the Toolbar to register apps, files, folders, URLs, and Shortcuts.

You can also drag apps, files, and folders from Finder into the Grid, and drag supported web URLs from a browser.

If you select an empty cell first, the item is added there. Otherwise mosium uses an available empty position.

2. Arrange the Grid

Drag a registered item to an empty cell to move it.

Drag onto another item to swap their positions.

Empty cells are preserved. Removing or moving an item does not automatically pack the remaining items toward the top-left.

3. Open an item

• Click an item: open it
• Arrow keys: move the selection
• Enter / Return: open the selected item

In Normal mode, the launcher closes after an item opens successfully.

4. Choose how item names appear

In Settings > General > Item Name Display, choose:

• Always Visible
• Active Only
• Always Hidden

With Active Only, a name appears while the item is hovered or selected.

5. Search

With the launcher focused, start typing to search.

Search keeps the Grid's spatial relationship intact while helping you find matching items.

Press Escape to clear the active search state.

6. Quick Look / Finder

Select a local file and press Space to preview it with macOS Quick Look.

Use Reveal in Finder from the Action or context menu to locate a local item.

Opening a folder item normally opens it in Finder.

7. Collections

Each Collection can have its own layout and Grid size.

Free has one usable Collection. Full lets you create and switch between multiple Collections from the Sidebar.

8. Invocation Profiles

Open Settings > Invocation Profiles to configure how mosium is brought forward.

A custom profile can define:

• Name
• Global Shortcut
• Target Collection
• Initial Placement
• Window Mode

Placement can use Monitor Center, Cursor / Window Center, Cursor / Top-left Grid, or a Placement Preset.

Free includes one custom profile in addition to the Standard Profile. Full removes the edition limit on custom profiles.

9. Placement Presets

Save a launcher-window position and use it from an Invocation Profile.

If the display setup changes, mosium uses its safe placement/recovery behavior to keep the launcher on an available screen.

10. Backup / Restore

Use File > Export Backup… to export your Collections and settings.

File > Import Backup… validates the selected backup and asks before replacing the current state. mosium keeps a safety backup of the pre-import state.

Backups may contain references to local files. Items can require relinking after restoring on another Mac.

11. Relink

If a registered file or folder moves, or its saved access can no longer be used, mosium does not automatically delete the launcher item.

Use Relink… to point it to the current location.

12. Free / Full
